Introducing Cempasúchil: A Photographic Visual Novel RPG

Cempasúchil is a unique game developed for the 2024 Day of the Dead Game Jam. This photographic visual novel RPG takes players on a journey through the afterlife, where they must follow the path of the cempasúchil flowers to find their purpose.

With an initial personality test, players are assigned one of two possible routes: the earthly path or the existential path. Along the way, players make decisions through various offerings that determine the outcome of their adventure.

Inspired by the Mexican legend of Xóchitl and Huitzilin, which characterizes the cempasúchil flower, the game also incorporates elements of psychology and Eastern doctrines such as Buddhism.

The game mechanics utilize a dynamic attribute system that determines the available options for the player, inspired by the game Disco Elysium. With multiple endings based on the final score, players can experience the game multiple times with different outcomes.
